income taxes help

Federal income taxes?

Can somebody find the IRS statute that says you have to pay federal income taxes. The 16 admendment was never ratified. RESEARCH YOUR ANSWER WILL BE SURPRISED. What the law professor didn't explain was 26 usc 7201 of the IRS code is a penlty code and does not levy any duties. So try again.

  1. Ratified or not, you stand the chance or being incarcerated if you do not pay your share...I won't take the chance..And BTW..This comes up every year, so why just during tax time??
  2. It seems that every so often, I see someone claiming this. This is an old, old claim by tax protesters, and has been repeatedly thrown out by the courts. Title 26 USC is the Internal Revenue Code. Its pretty clear that one is required to pay taxes on income. The code is full of loopholes and exemptions, but the authority of Congress to levy income taxes is beyond question. People who try this usually have the following happen to them, (although not necessarily in this order) 1) The IRS will assess them taxes, fine them for a frivolous tax argument/claim, and then begin to collect the taxes by involuntary means. (Levies, garnishments, etc) 2) Continuing this and/or promoting a tax argument like this can also result in criminal prosecution. People DO get sent to prison for income tax evasion. I hope you haven't bought into any such scheme. Unfortunately, we must pay out taxes like everyone else, like it or not.
  3. I'll tell you what, you lead the way and just stop paying taxes......don't file returns.....send letters of protest... Keep in touch with us from Leavenworth.
  4. As a practical matter, pay your taxes. The fight described has been faught -- and lost in the Supreme Court. If you don't pay your taxes, you go to prison. It's that simple. All that's left is to complain -- or to go to prison. If the fight was won by the no-income-tax advocates, the constitution would be amended to allow income tax.
