Do I owe Louisiana state income tax?
I moved from Louisiana to Texas in August of 2005. Louisiana is requiring that I pay state taxes on income that my wife and I earned after we moved to Texas (which does not have state income tax). My question is: Why is Louisiana able to tax what I earned in Texas and do I actually owe them money? Should I fight them on this subject?

- From my understanding the Louisiana IRS is really messed up I have had two different friends that live in Texas but have had offshore jobs with the main offices based out of Louisiana and they actually paid taxes to Louisiana because they worked there but then later found out since they live in Texas they don't owe taxes one of them got about 3,000 back but the other didn't really pursue it enough and didn't get any of it back so if I were you I would contact the Louisiana IRS before you pay any more and try to get back what ypu already paid if possible.
