Do minors age 13 pay income taxes and state taxes. I live in VA and my son worked for less than 4000 dollars?
My son works for me part time and earned $4000 in 2005. Do I need to submit a w2 for him? Also does he need to pay federal income tax, social security, medicare or state taxes?

- No, they don't have to. He would have had to make more than $5000 for him to have to file. I too was underaged and made only $2000 one year, and I called the state IRS and they explained that to me.
- Did he work "under the table?" If he got a W2 and got paid taxable wages, than he CAN file a tax return. I don't remember what the dependant deduction was this year... I know that if he WASN'T being claimed by you, the deduction is like, $4,200 or something odd dollars. If he made less than that, and you don't have to pay anything. I seriously would just ask the accountant whenever you go to get your taxes done.
- I do not know all the laws in VA. But i do know he has to have a w2 for his records. I would also check this tax year to be sure income guidelines have not changed.
