income taxes help

What percent comes out of your check if you claim zero on your Federal income taxes?

I live in Arizona and I just want to know how much of my check is should I not expect to have when making calculations on my paycheck. I know they take the most out at zero on your federal taxes, but you also get more back at the end of the year. Plus I dont want to owe money to the gov. come the end of the year, thus I claim zero. So, does anyone know what the percent is that the gov. takes out when you claim zero on your federal income taxes??

  1. Hard to figure out the % without more details about your pay. At any rate, the tax system is a progressive one so the more you make, generally speaking, the more taxes are deducted. Zero exemption, as you noted, would generate the most amount of taxes withheld on each level.
  2. It's not a flat percentage. It's based on your salary. Here's a site where you can plug in all your numbers and see what happens: http://www.paycheckcity.com
