Why are Liberal cities the slowest to recover?

Here's a list of the fastest and slowest recovering cities. Among the top is Texas, and at rock bottom is Liberal Mecca New York. Why is this? Does it have something to do with entitlements, and high taxes on the wealthy? New York does have some of the highest taxes BTW. Also, I know California has a Republican Governor, but the entire state is run by Democrats, not to mention Arnold is a RINO, and is paying the price for it.. http://finance.yahoo.com/real-estate/article/107183/the-best-and-worst-cities-for-recession-recovery?mod=realestate-buy John, I guess local government employees in NY losing ALL their retirement pension is ok?

  1. Liberals...... Slow........ you figure it out!
  2. Let's see what common sense comes from the left on this one!
  3. Because Liberal run governments spend $100 for every $75 they bring in. Conservative run governments cut unnecessary spending and only spend what they have.
  4. Except Toronto, ON is already out of the recession with Calgary, AB still declining. You're wrong, you lose.
  5. When you were at the top, you fall harder. So it takes longer to recover to where you were. When you sucked to begin with, you have nowhere to go but up.
  6. Your ignorance is showing - New York is low on the list because it never lost that much business to begin with. Things are just fine in New York City.
  7. NYS has been run by Republicans for 40 years. Most likely it has to do with their donor status through taxes. Here in NY we get 80 cents back for every dollar given to the federal government. Imagine Little Rock without my subsidies.
  8. Those "Liberal" cities are concentrated in Michigan and California. Perhaps it has something to do with state financial issues? I doubt they could represent Liberal cities as a whole. Well that was easy.
  9. They have much higher management cost.
  10. Because they had all the Jobs to start with
  11. WHY DO CONSERVATIVES STATES HAVE THE HIGHEST ABORTION RATES AND DIVORCE RATES? I REALLY DON'T FEEL LIKE PLAYING RED v.s BLUE TODAY.
  12. << here's a list of the fastest and slowest recovering cities. Among the top is Texas, and at rock bottom is Liberal Mecca New York. >> Why do republicans think Texas is a city?
  13. Libs are dumb. But California, Texas are states, not cities.
  14. The biggest difference between the liberals and conservatives is that the conservatives are very independent and don't want assistance and liberals are more interdependent and like assistance... And any time you are waiting around to have somebody bail you out, it will always take longer than if you dig in and bail yourself out.
  15. Because the liberals are all sitting around waiting for the government to fix things just like they always have...
  16. You're asking why? Gee, it's right in the story - did you read it? "Poised for swift recovery are many Texas cities, such as Austin, San Antonio, Dallas and McAllen. These areas did not see the massive real estate bubble that formed in states like California, Nevada and Florida." Home values did not skyrocket in these places because, even if they're nice places to live, they're not coveted real estate like NYC or CA coast line. So, as the story goes on to say, places where the real estate bubble was the worst (where that real estate was coveted and drove prices up) have a longer road to recovery. PS - Texas isn't a city.
  17. Texas isn't a city. Your question is an opinion without fact. Political question: fail.
  18. you are trying to equate liberal with being poor this just isn't a correlation you can make from that data...
  19. Maybe because liberals actually care about people. That's why you measure recovery by city instead of by individual. You're not liberal.
  20. Do you think that if California(as well as other states) didn't make so many provisions for Illegal Aliens those slow recovering states would not have so much debt ,more jobs available and without those provisions curtail Illegals from entering the USA???
  21. Liberal cities are bogged down in layer upon layer of municipal administration which is usually the constant companion of corruption. Add to that the wide range of unionized work rules and you have a recipe for social and economic grid lock.
  22. Because they keep giving until they have no more to give. Fools and their money is easily parted.
  23. Excuse me, the mayor of New York City is Micahel Bloomberg, a Republican. I believe the former mayor of New York City was Republican candidate for President. While Texas may be a Republican State, Austin (#1 on your list) is a pretty liberal City so is Boulder CO. While California may be a fairly liberal state Modesto, Salinas, and Fresno are quite conservative.
  24. It's because liberal states like New Jersey, New York California, etc. Send more money in taxes to the Fed. Gov't than we get in return. Where as states like Alaska, Mississippi, West Virginia, Alabama etc. get more money back from the federal gov't than they put in. ...and guess who's money that is? Yep, it's some liberal's. You're welcome.
  25. The further into the swamp of liberalism a city or state goes the longer it takes to get back onto dry land. As a resident in the area of one of the Texas cities mentioned (Dallas) I can tell you that it has been hard to tell that there's a recession going on at all. Not that there have been no layoffs and cut backs in jobs, but the same restaurants and malls that were crowded prior to this recession are still crowded today. I attribute this to the fact that we have had good conservative leadership in this state for a number of years and that extends also to democrats who tend to be more conservative here than in DC. Our business taxes are lower than most, welfare is not a given, no state income taxes, and there's a statewide attitude toward government that says "get the hell out of my way."
