income taxes help

Do I need to pay Virginia state tax for money made in another state?

Hello, I moved to Virginia in July 2008 from Florida, where I was a student. Now I am filling in the VA state tax forms, do I need to add the money I made in Florida to my "Federal Adjusted Gross Income" column in the form? i guess what i am wondering is if i need to pay VA taxes for the money i made in Florida. My other question is in my W-2 form in section 12, I have entries for E, C, and P, I just subtracted E from the Wages. Is that correct? what do I do with entries C and P. I appreciate your help and time, thank you very much!

  1. You are filing part-year resident returns for both states. For each state you declare only income earned in that state for the full year, plus worldwide income for the time you resided in that state.
