I lived in NJ for 9 months in 2008 but i did not earn any income in NJ. In Septemeber i came to OHIO where i got new job and earned income. so can i file as a full year resident instead of part year resident for ohio state return as i did not earn any income in NJ state. I lived in ohio only for 3 months for 2008.

- You would still file as a part year resident in Ohio. The part year starts on your day of arrival in Ohio and ending on 12/31/2008. Because you had no income in New Jersey, you would not need to file a part year New Jersey tax return.
