Can I deduct property taxes paid on my NJ state income tax return?

I know you can on your Federal return if you itemize but unsure about state. Thanks. Thanks for the informative answer and link, appreciate it.

  1. you can on your federal return even if you do not itemize. This year you can add up to a $1000 of taxes paid for married filing joint and $500 for single to your standard deduction. Yes you can get a property credit for NJ. http://www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/pdf/other_forms/tgi-ee/2008/08sch1.pdf Click on the above link for the form.
