What is a good method to start a small bookkeeping, tax prep business?

I am getting ready to graduate with a degree in Accounting and would like to try to do a small amount of bookkeeping for small local businesses, as well as some individual tax preparation. I am trying to find something I can do from my home, so I can stay home with my children. I just don't know how to get started-finding businesses that need my services, etc.

1. You could advertise in your local paper or magazines. Is there a directory of local businessmen such as plumbers, carpenters and so on. If so, how about making up a leaflet and delivering it to them. Also try calling local firms of accountants to see if they sub contract some of their work. Some will allow you to collect from their office, do the work and then deliver it back.
