How Do I File Multiple Out of State Taxes?

I claim residency in South Carolina. This past year I have worked in both Georgia and Washington State. Washington State has no income tax. How should I file my state taxes? Any info will help. Thanks. So do I have to claim the Washington State income on either the SC or GA tax forms?

  1. You'd file a resident return in SC and a non-resident return in GA.
  2. You will file a SC and file as resident. File a GA return as a non resident. I am going to give you the links for the states. You will get a credit on the SC for taxes paid to another state. Nonresidents. Nonresidents who work in Georgia or receive income from Georgia sources and are required to file a Federal return are required to file a Georgia income tax return. 3. You pay tax only to SC on the WA income. You pay tax to GA on only the GA income. You may or may not be required to REPORT the WA state income on the GA return for technical reasons, but will not be required to pay GA tax on it. You must report ALL the income (from all states) on the SC return. However, you can claim a credit on either the SC form or the GA form (not sure which) for either SC tax paid on income also taxed by GA or GA tax paid on income also taxed by SC, whichever is less. As a result, the total tax, after subtracting the credit, on the income that is taxed by both states will equal either the SC tax paid on income also taxed by GA or the GA tax paid on income also taxed by SC, whichever is more.
