California placed a tax lien on me for California income taxes that I do not owe.?
I am not a CA resident and never have been. The only reason they think I am a CA resident is that in 2004 I received a 1099 at a California mailing address . I sent them a copy of the state tax return showing that I paid NY State taxes that year. But they went ahead and filed the lien anyway. How can I get the tax lien removed?

- Liens are filed on property, not people. What did they lien?
- You should talk to a tax attorney. It's possible that your easiest way out of this is to pay or settle the tax. An attorney can advise you how to do that, if appropriate, or help you sue if that's necessary.
