- software...you will be paying both...you need different forms for both state and federal
- 1. In your case, go to an office. Desktop software is usually better, but only for someone who knows how to do it correctly. 2. Both state and federal, unless you both live and work only in one of the four states without state income taxes. If you both live and work only in those four states, then federal, only. With extremely rare exception, everyone who must do taxes must do federal taxes, the state taxes of each state where they worked, and the state taxes of the state where they lived.
- 1. office until you learn about all of it someone can answer all of your questions there 2. theyre both for you, you pay taxes to federal and to state, since you don't know this answer you really need to have them prepared first so you can learn about it before you try to do them yourself
- Depending on your income level, you probably need to file both federal and state income taxes (it depends of course on the state where you live-some states don't even have a state income tax but most do). If you are able to go to an office where you can talk to a tax advisor, you might want to do this as you seem to have some basic issues which need to be sorted out before you attempt filing on your own. Of course, that is entirely up to you, but I've been helping folks with taxes for 28 years, and that is my opinion. Robyn M. - You should go to a professtional such as Roni Deutch Tax Center. They can do your taxes no matter where you live over the phone, fax or email. Federal taxes are imposed by the Federal government and State taxes are imposed by the State government

It depends really, doing your taxes is simple if you only have 1 W2 you can probaly file a 1040EZ. this is a simple tax form also known as the short form. If you had alot of expenses educational, health realated or anything like that, I would go to a professional since they have the proper knowledge and training to do your taxes right and get you the best benefits.
