if i am a dependent of my father and earned 9600 this year do i get all federal income taxes back?
i am 20 and still go to college so my father still claims me as a dependent, i work part time and made 9600 this year and had 882 withheld for federal income tax. do i get that all back?

- No, you will not get all $882 back because you will have tax- able income. Since your dad is claiming you as dependent, you will not be able to use the $3500 personal exemption to reduce your taxable income. You will only be able to use the single standard deduction of $5450 to reduce your taxable inc- ome to $4150 which gives you a tax of about $415 or so since you are in the 10% bracket. So you'll end up getting back about half of what you paid in. Chances are, though, the per- sonal exemption on your father's return is worth more in terms of tax dollars because he is probably in a higher tax bracket than you are.
