income taxes help

What are the main differences and who qualifies to file the IRS 1040A and 1040EZ forms?

I am a full time student who is currently unemployed and would like to know if I should fill the IRS 1040A or 1040EZ form. I did work a couple of months in 2008. I need to know the main differences between those forms and who qualifies to fill them.

  1. your best bet is 1040ez just you no dependents just income filing single 1040a little longer has dependents filing head of household
  2. One big difference is you can't claim a dependent on a 1040EZ. If you have any income as an independent contractor, from self employment, you have to use a 1040 not 1040EZ. But it sounds like you can probably just use an EZ form unless you have some income you didn't mention.
  3. EZ is for people with very simple returns. Only W2 wages and some bank interest.
