What are the main differences and who qualifies to file the IRS 1040A and 1040EZ forms?
I am a full time student who is currently unemployed and would like to know if I should fill the IRS 1040A or 1040EZ form. I did work a couple of months in 2008. I need to know the main differences between those forms and who qualifies to fill them.

- your best bet is 1040ez just you no dependents just income filing single 1040a little longer has dependents filing head of household
- One big difference is you can't claim a dependent on a 1040EZ. If you have any income as an independent contractor, from self employment, you have to use a 1040 not 1040EZ. But it sounds like you can probably just use an EZ form unless you have some income you didn't mention.
- EZ is for people with very simple returns. Only W2 wages and some bank interest.
