Do you have a file a state and federal tax return if the only income is social security?
If all I get is social security income.. have no other income at all.. then do I even have to fill out a tax return for fed and state? I'm in Virginia btw.

- Normally, no. You'd have wanted to file A 2007 return, the one filed in 2008, to be eligible for the stimulus payment.
- You may not have a legal requirement to file a return, but if you have any withholding from SS, or if you may be eligible for a credit such as the Elderly/Disabled Credit.
- Well I live in nj..so I don't think u have to file for it ..its already gonna be done for u..that's if u can even file for that type of income..my boyfriend receives it he has not yet filed!!!!
- The only reason to file is for the economic stimulus payment. You are not required to file income taxes.
