What happens when the IRS neglects to include one or more of your qualifying children in their estimate?
Both my wife and I filed jointly and included both of our children in our 2007 tax income statements for our returns. Both children were born between the eligible birth criteria standards. Recently, we received a letter from the IRS stating that we only were only being compensated for one child. How is this possible?

- Alot of errors are being made. I would call to correct it. 1-866-234-2942 (number listed on my stimulus payment calculation)
- there has been some problem with the computer picking up all the dependents, your remaining rebate will be issued at a later time. Contact Stimulus Rebate at 1-866-234-2942
- It sounds like maybe you forgot to check the box in the exemption section of your return saying that one of your kids is a qualifying child for the Child Tax Credit. A couple hundred thousand people made that mistake - supplemental checks will be issued. You don't have to call. See the last question at http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=182735,00.html
- The other responses are probably what's going on. To be sure, you can call 1-800-829-0582, extension 726, and a representative can confirm it.
