Is the IRS mileage deduction only for jobs that require travel or to and from work also?
Public Comments
- A normal commute is usually not allowed - but if you can fit it into a supplies run or a get work run you will be ok
- Commuting miles are not deductible. That is miles from home to your first office and from last office to home are not deductible. For articles on your U.S. tax return, http://taxipay.blogspot.com/2008/04/list-of-articles.html
- Mileage to and from work is normally not deductible. Once at you place of work any mileage required to do your job is deductible assuming that you itemize your deductions and exceed the exclusion for miscellaneous deductions.
- Travel from home to work and back home is called commuting expense, and is a personal expense and not deductible.
