income taxes help

do you have to pay federal income taxes if you receive your spouses social security?

I am 65, still working with an income of $19,000 plus the SS check. Does the social security check count toward income for tax purposes? This is the first year I started to get this check. I am in Massachusetts if anyone knows about state taxes. Thanks for your help.

  1. Yes I do believe so that it would count toward income because you are getting money from the ss here is some info that may help you further.
  2. Yes, and yours is taxable, too. You are eligible to apply now, yourself.
