what line do i put garnished wages on on a form 1040?
The IRS garnished wages and that is taxes paid to them that doesn't count as income. Where does it go on a form 1040 If you have income seized by the IRS where do you report it on form 1040 that you gave it (involuntarily) back to them as taxes paid for previous years

- Yes it does count as income. Federal taxes aren't deductible if you pay them on time, and aren't deductible if they are taken from you because you pay them late.
- You do not put it anywhere, it does not effect your present taxes at all.
- You don't. Taxes are not deductible, whether paid on time or late. You're just paying them late. The amounts taken ARE income since it's not deductible.
- Amounts paid as a result of a garnishment (Notice of Levy for IRS taxes) are still wages and are included in your W-2. All the enforced collection does is to take the decision to use your wages to pay that particular creditor out of your hands. There is nothing that needs to be reported on a tax return except if state taxes were paid through a garnishment and you itemized deductions, you could deduct the state tax paid on Schedule A.
