Regarding Taxes - What is the difference between an inheritance tax and an estate tax?

- Both are indirect taxes on the transfer of assets. Basically, the estate tax asks *what* is being transferred without regard to the recipient and the inheritance tax asks *who* is receiving the property when imposing the tax.
