Barak on TAXATION - What kind of "change" is he talking about?

So Obama is saying he is for change in government, but when I'm looking at his views and positions on taxation - it looks like status quo to me and keeping the Alternative Minimum Tax as-is is killing more and more of the middle class - it was never set to factor in inflation and is burdensome but he votes against repealing or fixing it... http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Barack_Obama.htm ... Restore progressive tax; close loopholes; relief to seniors. (Oct 2007) Reduce Bush tax cuts to pay for health care & other programs. (Jun 2007) Bush tax cuts help corporations but not middle class. (Jun 2004) Voted NO on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax. (Mar 2007) Voted NO on raising estate tax exemption to $5 million. (Mar 2007) Voted NO on supporting permanence of estate tax cuts. (Aug 2006) Voted NO on permanently repealing the `death tax`. (Jun 2006) Maybe someone can explain to me how Obama's CHANGE is an IMPROVEMENT!!!

  1. most voters don't let the facts get in the way...8*( It has become a mindless sport. My team is good your team is bad. They have no idea that their descendants liberties are at stake. me me me me me. Ask not what you can do for your county, ask what your country can do for you.
  2. Move to the head of the class! Obama is great about speaking; terrible about taxes. There are two points to consider. One of which gets you an 'A' in this class. First, people like what he says because he says it so well. It is great for getting followers, but followers of what? His followers are often unable to mention any of his accomplishments. Vapid is the term for the responses of his typical supporter. Second, and your salient point: Change is not always an improvement. Worded differently, we have: "All change is not an improvement; all improvement is a change." Now please take your grade of 'A' and smile.
  3. I can't support him either. I don't think he or any of the Dems for that matter understand economics and that's a problem. On the other side of the aisle, who's impressive in the Republican race? I will give McCain props for his anti-pork stance for a long time, but even he didn't "get" the Bush tax cuts, so I can't get too excited over him. Huckabee is sort of in the race yet, but that "FairTax" is BS so his support of it worries me. What we all need to do is educate ourselves about issues and do the best we can when voting--Congressional members will be CRUCIAL to our future. Then we have to stay on top of key issues and keep contacting those folks in office. Yes they do listen to lobbyists and the special interests, but every once in a while when the public gets good and riled they open their eyes to realize they still have to be voted IN office. So no I can't say positive things about Obama and his plans though he is one step ahead of Hillary in NOT trying to mandate UHC at this time. Outside of that I'm at a loss to see him as that different from her in all honesty. As I don't believe ANY of the promises (either side of the aisle) I tend to discount those. The reason I believe him on UHC is that in IL he would not make it mandatory. SCHIP, Hillary's pet project, indicates she is different there.
