Does everyone know that the IRS government website is banned??

Does anyone know why Yahoo! Answers is not allowing people to post a link to the IRS website?? Try it yourself. Try to post a link to the IRS dot gov website...it wont let you do it, you get an error 999. Try another website...such as "reason.org" and it works!!! Is this "censorship" at its worst or what? P.S. I POSTED THS QUESTION 6 HOURS AGO AND IT WAS DELETED. I DIDN'T GET A VIOLATION NOTICE...IT'S JUST....GONE!!! WHAT IS YAHOO UP TO?? Jack Tripper Yahoo! Answers is a website that people use that are seeking answers to their questions on numerous topics. The IRS government website is a vital reference. If we can't post a link to a government website as a reference, Yahoo Answers is useless.. Jack Tripper Yahoo! Answers is a website that people use that are seeking answers to their questions on numerous topics. The IRS government website is a vital reference. If we can't post a link to a government website as a reference, Yahoo Answers is useless.. Jack Tripper...sorry for the double post!! Super Chee The IRS website is a very important reference for immigrants. Legal immigrants that qualify to work in the U.S. but do not qualify for a social security number must be informed about ITIN numbers. You didn't know the IRS website had this vital information available for legal immigrants (as well as a wealth of other information)??? Lori K I even gave you best answer for the question before it mysteriously disappeared. I don't know if you knew that or not. I definitely will attempt to notify as many people as possible about this, even if this question mysteriously vanishes as well.

  1. thats weird...
  2. Why would you want to post on the IRS site, taht should be illegal
  3. Freaky...
  4. Yahoo can do what it wants. It's a private business. The Consitution applies to the government.
  5. I was one of the responders to your question before. It is gone!!! I don't know what happened to it!! I can look in my answers and it's there, but it's not visible on to the immigration website.
  6. Private businesses can do what they wish. And yes I knew links to the IRS were not allowed. What does this have to do with immigration? Censorship.. ha ha no.
  7. Wow I can't imagine why that is happening. Maybe you should tell the IRS.
  8. IRS links were allowed as recently as 2 days ago. This is something new. I ALWAYS post a link to the IRS dot gov website. As of today, mysteriously, it isn't allowed.
  9. Regardless of WHO does it, it meets the definition of censorship. Censorship applies to TV, radio, newspapers, books, articles, and the Internet. Regardless of the identity of the entity that censors information, it MOST CERTAINLY IS censorship. And censoring a link to a government reference is utterly ridiculous, especially if this site is "supposedly" for people seeking legitimate answers to their questions.
  10. I do...thanks to you. I can't believe that someone deleted your question. I smell conspiracy. (I posted the problem on the yahoo suggestion forum when you asked this morning in hopes that they'd fix it. I wonder if they deleted that too.) You might want to ask this in the Yahoo category. Sometimes that gets the right attention faster. Seriously, why anyone would block a government tax website during tax season is beyond me. *** Hey, thanks for the best answer. That's always appreciated! ;)
  11. http://www.nsa.gov/ http://www.state.gov/ https://www.cia.gov/ http://www.fbi.gov/ Guess these are okay. My thoughts: the IRS does not have an address, so maybe they're trying to keep the policy consistent. I live in California and when you mail your taxes you just send them to Fresno. Obviously the Post Office knows where to send it. They do this to avoid crazy, angry people from coming in and causing a scene or shooting everyone up, because you know how much Americans love taxes! Why they wouldn't let their web address posted is beyond me.
  12. The IRS website is still available on the Internet all to use. It's there for people seeking answers to tax questions. The QUESTION is: Why is YAHOO ANSWERS not allowing people on THIS website to post a link to the IRS website.

  14. To the easter bunny poster that wants to know "what does the IRS website have to do with immigration", I refer you to the following questions. Why don't you tell THEM their tax questions aren't related to immigration?? Can I claim my Resident mother as dependent without affecting her citizenship request? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ap47B3SEit35nsWI_31ge.3a7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080318111730AAXHUzI Can a non resident alien file in the irs as single even he is married in his country? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgpNlV0eojjC7emBO7RWDAHa7BR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080318105000AAYFSiP These are 2 samples I found in about 30 seconds.
