income taxes help

Taxes in TEXAS...?

If I live in Texas only part-time of the year but work in a neighboring state where there is a Income Tax (unlike TX). How do I decdie if I need to pay income Taxes?? Does the state where I work has any say in it or is it up to me to declare my domicile in TX. Can I maintain a part-time residence in the state wheer I work without having to pay Income taxes there? P.S. I currently do NOT live in TX....but I am planning on doing so in the future..

  1. Your federal income tax is the same no matter where you live. And if you work in a neighboring state, you'd have to file a state return there also, no matter where your residence is.
