income taxes help

Would Texas do well as a Socialist Republic?

A friend once told me that in actuality, the state of Texas was founded on socialist principles. That is why Texas Hold-em poker, unlike 5-card draw, involves SHARING of 3 cards in the middle of the table when you bet or fold. Also, Texas is a community property state. When a divorce takes place, the property gets divided in half between the two families. So my friend told me about a movement in Texas to raise the state income tax rate to 95% so that everyone can opt to marry the state in community property fashion. The other 5% not taxed would be the amount of a Texas state sales tax.

  1. Socialism, as a pure economic state is unreasonable. So is capitalism. Traditionally, the best economies are capitalist ones, with markets that are free, excepting the respect that laws are enacted to protect the workers, laborers and safety/wages of all. (i.e., some socialist policies in an otherwise capitalist economy. Japan does this, we did this, although those socialist policies are eroding here.)
  2. I would love to watch the attempt to do so as a reality show.
  3. There is no such thing as being a socialist and a republican. Socialism is far to the left meaning government taking care of all citizens in much the way welfare does, not having any say in government matters or voting, and not owning property or guns. Republicans sure do not buy into the government providing for them and not owning any property and guns. Being a democrat is supporting the socialist movement.
  4. I saw wall it off let the "illegals" have all of Texas and in a few years we will just have another third world banana republic on our southern border.
  5. OBAMA!!!!!
  6. Your friend, apparently, has a vivid imagination. Either that or he/she thinks you are an idiot who will believe any old thing. You can tell your friend that as a direct result of climate change, within the next 50 years, the great state of Texas will cease to exist. What isn't drowned by the rise in sea level will become just another desert on the edge of the sea.
  7. Would they still be able to have cow pie throwing contest. No Texan is going to give that up.
