Can I work without work authorization?
I have h4 visa, I live in US for 3 years. I am studying accounting and taxes (I have master degree in other field and working experience in my country). I took training classes for tax preparation and they will offer me a job soon. Can I work with my previous status? They may offer form 1099, should I agree? Will this become a problem when I will be obtaining my green card?

- Not a problem if your employer sponsers you, or if you apply for a work visa and are given one.
- Even if you do get a work visa and someone to sponsor you for it you still need to file an I-765 for a work permit. My husband came to the US on a work visa and he still had to file for a work permit and file other forms as well.
- you cannot work in h4 status. you will violate your visa status. the employer that offers you this job must sponsor your h1b visa.
- Exactly what 2128haha says: you can not work as an H-4. If you want to work, youi need your own H-1B. Any chance your attached H-1B will be getting a Green Card that you can follow on? If you work without authorization, yes, it can negatively affect your later Green Card application.
- Consult a lawyer of your own, don't rely upon the free advice.
