Where do you prefer, not prefer: Oregon, Tennessee, Kentucky, New York, Texas?

I have an opp through my employer to request a transfer to one of these states. This is what I know. Oregon: Job would be in Portland. Great scenery, clean air and water, probably the highest quality of life of the five locales, decent people, close to Seattle, no sales tax Texas: Currently first pick. Would be San Antonio. Hill Country, very clean, no income tax, people are great, some of the nicest looking women I've seen, ATX nearby!! Kentucky: would be near Louisville. The cost of living is cheap, low crime. I've never been treated nicely in KY, only w/ bad attitudes. I guess if I listened to country music all day, had dirty roadsides and a sh*tty economy I'd be depressed too. Tennessee: would be in Nashville, a great city! Beautiful state, nice highways, great recreational opps, friendly folk. Closest to my home state. New York: would be in Manhattan. Like the people, fast pace, and can-do will-do attitude. It's its own universe! But the cost of living...whoa!

  8. Well, I live in Eastern Tennessee, but most jobs here pay poorly. Nashville might be better. Weather is good, scenery good, night life in Nashville should be good. I'd recommend Tennessee.
  9. prefer: Oregon not prefer: Texas
  10. oregon sucks, the people are all tree hugers, no self service filling stations, the weather sucks otherwise i agree with you i lived in texas, in san antonio, i would go back there!
  11. I have lived in Orlando, Harrisburg PA and Virginia Beach... I am back in Washington... I vote Oregon. Texas has awful weather, Kentucky is full of hillbillies, Tennessee would get my next vote, but you still have Tornadoes. New York is a great place to visit. Congratulations on having that kind of choice.
  12. Oregon is wet and rainy. Did you factor the weather or if it doesn't matter. Go with Tennessee it is closer to your home state.
  13. Well I have lived in Texas, Oregon, and Tennessee. Oregonians hate everyone else, Portland is dirty although it is kinda close to Seattle. Texas (Dallas area) is a kick-ass state for younger partiers. Tennessee I owned a nightclub in Nashville so I mostly saw people on vacation who tend to be happy, and drunks which really screws up the happy people outlook. The rest of Tn is filled with people who are still living in the era before civil rights, if you get my drift. I have to say ditto to Ky. New York is the most un-friendly , old city I have ever seen. And there you have it, sorry to those of you who are pissed off at me right now, what can I say. It is the truth.
  14. Oregon, like you said there is clean air and water (cough cough the Willamete is not but we can leave that out of the picture) , extremely nice people, and the best thing NO SALES TAX, and you dont have to pup you own gas in Oregon, I have lived in portland my whole life and it is i love it
