If u had 2 jobs during a tax year, and file income under a wrong tax id # will the irs let it slide?

  2. NO NO NO You need to file the correct return with a note stating this was a mistake and here is the return you should have filed. They will notice it may take up to 2 years but the will find the error. Then after they finish adding fines and late fees you will wish you had sent an amended return. Do it now.
  3. Let me guess, you efiled your tax return using your last paycheck stub and are now realizing that you didn't use the correct EIN for your employer. And you are wondering if the IRS will catch this? Let's see what was on the W-2, your job, your income and your withholding. The IRS normally doesn't ask efilers to mail in their W-2s because with the EIN they can verify that they've gotten them. In your case, if the EIN doesn't match, as somepoint the IRS will "lose" your withholding and demand that you pay the money back....
  4. Your return will very likely be rejected if you efile. If you file by mail, you need to include a copy of your W-2. Wait for your W-2 to file - that way it will be right.
