Real Estate Property Taxes in Maryland.?

My property taxes are due Sept 1 of this year. My house is on the market. How am I credited when I sell my house? They are current taxes. What happens if I don't pay them until I sell the house. Will I get fined?

1. Are the taxes for 2006, but due on Sept 1 2007? if so, you'll pay the entire amount at closing when you sell the property. If the taxes are for 2007, you will pay the pro-rata share for the time you owned the property during that year.
