can i efile and use the first time homebuyer credit from DC form 8859?

I want to claim the DC first time homebuyers credit on form 8859; however one tax site stated I had to send my IRS 1040 by mail with the form 8859 already completed. I really want to efile. Can you help?

  1. If the program is telling you that you have to mail the return in with the form 8859. You have to mail it, That form is not able to be efiled, Mail the return and elect to have your refund direct deposited.
  2. when you e-file using Form 1040, Form 8859 will automatically attach to the 1040 e-file when you answer line 54 for your 8859 tax credit; just answer the items pertaining to Form 8859 when they come up and it is sent, e-filed, with your 1040
