- it's the number of exemptions your parent(s) claimed on their tax forms... so 02, 03, etc. that's why there's 2 spaces...if your mom claimed 10 kids, she'd have 10 exemptions.
- If they did not claim any exemptions just put 00.
- Exemptions ways that you are "exempt" from paying taxes directly out of your pay check. For example, having dependents will give you one exemption for each dependent. You are not required to claim exemptions if you have them. In the end, you will pay the same amount of taxes the only difference is if they take them out of your pay check or if you have to pay it when you file. If you parents have not claimed any exemptions then you just fill in a zero. Edit: You are only their claimed exemption if there is something there on their tax form. If line 6d is empty, then you are not.
- I filed last week! How many people live with your parents? Ask your folks what they entered...that's an easy one for them. How many people do they support? Mom, Dad, you, brothers, sisters still at home!
- it is the number of ppl ur parents claim to support on their tax return in cluding then for instance my father is the only one earning in our family to he puts down 4 on line 6d b/c he has to support himself, my mom,my sister and me... to be on the safe side recheck ur parents tac return and call fafsa they will tell u the most accurate ansers ask them a thousand time and they will answer u believe me....
- If you follow the lines ------------------------------ on 6d, you will see that they lead to a bold box, which says "add numbers on lines above" In this box there should be a number, enter that number into your FAFSA. If there is nothing in the bold box, then it most likely is a mistake, because you are their dependent and live with them. Hope this helps. Good luck with school.
