- you need to save it, and tell your mom to do her taxes ASAP! You need your mom's tax information in order to process your fafsa app.
- The "student's parent's exemptions" is how many people your mom is going to claim (legally) on her tax return including herself. So, for example, if it's just you and your mom living together and she paid the expenses of having a household for you for more than 1/2 the year, then she would claim 2 exemptions. (Herself and you). If you have any other brothers or sisters, or you have both parents, the number would need to be Dad+Mom+you+sister+brother=5. (for 5 people, so you have 5 exemptions, get it?) Hope this helps
- please refer to the person that talks about exemptions I have additional information however. NEVER wait to complete your FAFSA. Just complete it with the best answers and guesses/estimations possible at the time. You can always go back and change your answers later!!! The reason you need to file right away and not wait is because the sooner you file the more likely you are to get higher amounts of money (it's first come first serve). Also, they count the first time you submit not from when you make changes.
