Has the IRS mailed the 2006 1040 forms and instruction booklets yet?

Public Comments

  1. They generally go out in late December. If you didn't get anything, it's probably because you used a computer generated tax form (like TurboTax, TaxCut, etc.) or used a paid preparer. In those cases, the IRS will send nothing except a brochure on e-filing.
  2. Yes. If you haven't received one yet, stop at your local post office or download online
  3. I never wait for the IRS...I just go to the post office so I can get my check back sooner
  4. If you didn't get one by now, you aren't likely to. If you filed electronically last year, you won't get one. If you want a paper form and instructions, check at your local post office or library, or download from irs.gov.
  5. Yes they did, and I have already sent it in. If you didn't file taxes last year, you will not get the form in the mail. You will have to go get it at the post office or something.
  6. The forms were mailed in early January, If you paid a preparer or electronically filed your return last year it would not be mailed to you. This is part of the paperwork reduction. If you plan to file a paper return. You can call the IRS and request that the forms be sent to you
  7. Yes. If you haven't received yours, you can either go online to the IRS website and download them, or go to your local post office and pick them up.
