IRS Refund Procedure?
Is anyone familiar with how the flow of refunds go through the IRS? Here is the question: From the date of acceptance, how long do they have to either issue a refund or send a letter (or call)? Do they have deadlines which they have to follow in processing refunds?

- That depends on each circumstance, if there are no issues with your return and it is electronically filed you should have your refund in about 3 weeks. If there are errors or questionable items on your return, it can take longer depending on what the issue is, if it is a questionable item they have to review and investigate whether you are entitled to that item. If it is a case of fraud the processing and release of a refund can take a year or more. If there are issues a Letter is sent usually within 30 days
