IF i receive SSI does w-9 form hurt my benefit ?
I do receive SSI and I'm looking for a roommat who received help from work to pay his rent does that hurt my benefit ? or will reduce my pay from SSI do i have to report it to IRS ?

- If I were you I would not report and then just play dumb. But if you don't get a whole lot anyway it would be woth it.
- If you are renting and you and your roommate are paying fair share for each of your portions of rent and food, your SSI will not be affected because it's not income to you and you don't report it to the IRS. If someone is helping you pay for your share of the rent or food, your SSI may be reduced by 1/3. If you own the unit and your roommate pays you rent then it is counted as rental income and will affect your SSI and you should report the income to SSA and the IRS. Alana Benefits Advocate
