If you fill out your tax forms honestly, should you still storry about the IRS auditing you?

  1. As long as you can document everything on your return, you shouldn't worry about an audit. In the unlikely event that you get audited, you'd just have to show your proof, and the audit would be over.
  2. No, because an audit is just them taking a closer look at your records. They might, but if you were honest about it you would never know.
  3. well depends on some other situations...my husband and i do our taxes honestly, claim what we are able to and such but are being harassed by the irs because his ex-wife does not claim her alimony as income like she should and we list it on ours...we have all the documentation to prove it is paid, since it's done through pay roll deduction we still had to pay a lawyer over $1500 to get this mess straightened out....i have now resorted to filling out and sending forms to the irs to report her because this is not fair to us
  4. Not really. Your chances of being audited are low, and even if you are, as long as you were honest about everything, and have the appropriate documentation, you should sail right through it.
