Having taxes from 3 different states...do you get seperate refunds or is it bunched up into one..for ex:nys taxes is what it is, ct taxes is what it is and fl taxes is what it is...different states , different laws?? how does that work?? This is the first time for me with not just one state.

  1. You will get different refunds of STATE taxes from each state, but you will have to file for it with each state's tax authority. You will only get ONE refund of your FEDERAL taxes, if you are eligible for one, from the IRS.
  2. Yes, you file 3 separate state taxes UNLESS you lived in one state the entire time and commuted. Your best bet would be to go to a tax professional as they have all the forms for all the states in question and will be able to process your paperwork a lot easier than you doing it yourself. I had that happen to me when I had dual states and I got 2 state refund checks.
