If I converted my general partnership to a LLC this past year, do I have to file two 1065 forms to the IRS?

Or do I just file one form for the new LLC entitity even though they have different EIN numbers?

  1. Yes, you do have to file two forms 1065, one for each entity. Be sure to mark the 'Final Return' box on the partnership 1065, and mark the 'Initial Return' box on the LLC 1065. Also, remember to check with your State tax authority. Some States require a different type of return for LLCs than for partnerships. (ie California requires LLCs to file a 568).
