In Articles of Incorporation, "the number of shares which the corporation shall have the authority to issue"?

What do I put here? I am starting a small tax preparation business in Alabama. I will be the sole owner/incoporator/director. Do I put my start up costs and say every dollar is a share? Im confused. Help!!!

1. 500 shares to 2500 (I think I remember that being the max before other rules kick in) at no par value. The costs get carried on your books, but that has nothing to do with the value you declare in the articles.
