Anyone need to hire a CPA?

I am a CPA in Western Massachusetts and had worked for a CPA/Tax Preparation firm. My boss informed me on Friday that he had just sold the firm, and the new owners would not be retaining my services. I am looking to remain in the Western MA area, but would be willing to relocate for the right opportunity. I have 24 years experience in accounting, have been a CPA for the last 10 years, and have about 10 years in banking, 10 years in Tax Prep/CPA firms, also 3 years in manufacturing in an accounting capacity. I'd appreciate any sincere answers, or suggestions as to finding a new job. Tomk, I don't have enough capital set aside to tide me over till I build up the business. cool person, what about pasadena, california?

  1. With your solid background, I don't think you will have any trouble finding another CPA firm. The question is, do you want to work at small, national, or Big 4 firm? What is your title? Are you a manager? Since you've been a CPA for 10 years, then you could also qualify to be a principal at some firms. Well, anyways, good luck to you! You will find your next firm without much difficulty!
  2. My firm will be looking for someone with your qualifications during the tax season. We have lost a very active tax preparer who was an enrolled agent. (Of firm is made of EA's). We pay a percentage of the fees produced, however, our rate is one of the highest I have seen. You would have to relocate to Las Vegas though to work here. Please let me know if you have any interest.
  3. I am truly sorry to hear of your situation man. If I could I would hire you as my personal CPA to manage my money and be able to pay you what you deserved but I'm no Trump... Yet? I'm not 100% sure if I can help but I am pretty tight with our recruiter here at CACI. I could ask him if we would be in need of a seasoned CPA. Our primary office is in Arlington VA and we have offices in DC if that matters. I can touch base with my people to see what the deal is. E-mail me and let me know if you are interested. I will e-mail Tim (our recruiter) and see if we can utilize your services. Hope to hear from you soon man. Regardless of what happens I wish you the best. Layte, Austin
  4. I have a relative who is a private CPA/Tax Preparer. He does very well financially. Why don't you consider private practice?
