Where can I find free advice online for tax preparation?
Public Comments
- Ask on this site. Also - www.IRS.gov forms, schedules and instructions - plus IRS search for your areas needed. If under $52,000 AGI (line 38 of the 1040 after you prepare it in draft form), you can file electronically free. www.irs.gov - and click on FREE Filing. GOD bless us, always.
- Many state chapters of Certified Public Accountants have free tax help programs (usually by email). Here in Virginia, the site is: http://www.vataxhelp.com/ (The service is not up yet, but I understand it will be soon) The IRS also provides free tax assistance, but not in an interactive online format. The IRS website (IRS.gov) is helpful, you can also use the many other free programs sponsored by the IRS (see link below).
