Can I file my income tax without my state ID?

I live in NYC and I have an expired ID card, can I still file my income tax at a tax preparation place? Thanks

1. I don't see a reason why you couldn't. It's not hard to complete your own income tax forms using Turbo Tax or something similar. It would probably save you some money.
2. Most tax preparation places only ask for ID if you are getting a bank product (i.e. a refund anticipation loan.) You should still be able to file, though you may need to pay up front. Some will even take the expired ID as long as it isn't too old.
