Has anyone taken the tax preparation course offered by HR Block and been hired to work at completion of course
Was the pay scale adequate? Was the training thorough?

- That is how i started and am still with them after 9 years.... as far as training and course... it is the basic course .. you learn more with hands on... they give you ample continueing courses if you really want to learn and move forward... you can take the course and if you get a "C" .. u can get a cerificate but have to have a "B" or higher to get hired on.... as far as pay etc.. it varies some pay on commission of tax returns and some pay hourly... It is great part time work cuz the season is only jan- april... there is company owned and franchise owned ... so pay varies... and the longer you stay, more clients you can build and larger commissions etc... I know some people who make about 25,000 in the season but have been with block for 10-15 yrs and have a large client base ... its like anything else the harder you work , the better you get, the more money you make.... hope that answers some of your questions
- I have taken the HR Block course and went to work for them. While the pay is regulated by the individual franchise or region it was not great to start. I later took the Jackson Hewitt course and went to work for them. Their pay system is normally better but they don't have as Meany locations. In some parts of the south and east coast the JH franchises are a bit less than professional so check them out if you live in those areas.
