Can anyone give me a link to calculate the state income tax in Georgia and South Carolina? My husband has two applications out and hopefully he'll get an offer on one.. The one is for FEMA in Atlanta, Georgia and the other is for an emergency operations position for Hilton Head, South Carolina. We found out that both states have a state income tax and we want to figure out what those amounts would be if we were to move to one of these states. We currently live in Florida where there's no state income tax. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Currently, one in ten Americans is foreign-born, with about a third of the foreign-born population arriving in the past 10 years. Since California receives about 25 percent of the nation’s flood of immigration, our state’s numbers look a little different, with an astounding one in four Californians being foreign-born. In addition, nearly all of our state’s growth is now due to immigration and higher-than-average fertility rates among new immigrants. If current legal and illegal immigration trends continue, an estimated 60 million people will call California home by 2050. There are an estimated 12 to 20 million illegal aliens currently residing in our country. All of the 9/11 hijackers were in the United States legally, having entered on temporary visas. California is home to at least 3.2 million of those illegal aliens. Illegal immigrants who take low-paying jobs don't pay enough in income taxes, if they pay at all, to reimburse taxpayers the $5,000/per student annual cost of educating their children. Illegal immigration costs the taxpayers of California $10.5 billion a year for education, health care, and incarceration. Illegal aliens constitute 15 percent of our state’s school population. Between 1993 and 2003, 60 California hospitals were forced to close from the financial burden of providing free health care for uninsured illegal aliens. Illegal immigrants who enroll in the University of California system are charged in-state tuition. Each year the Border Patrol makes more than a million apprehensions of persons unlawfully crossing U.S. borders to work and to receive public assistance, often with the aid of fraudulent documents. Such entry is a misdemeanor, and if repeated becomes punishable as a felony. Illegal aliens from Central America have been allowed to remain in the United States so long that their homelands have grown dependent on the billions of dollars a year they send home in remittances. 300,000 people who have been ordered deported are still in the country because their deportation orders were not enforced. Census Bureau estimates say 115,000 people from terrorist-sponsoring Middle Eastern nations live in the United States illegally. Some illegal aliens from terrorist nations pay as much as $50,000 each to be smuggled into our country. Approximately one-third of all foreign-born U.S. residents are illegal aliens. Over half of all Mexicans living in the United States are here illegally. In the last decade, 80 to 85 percent of the flow of Mexican immigrants has been illegal. A strategy of attrition through enforcement could reduce the illegal population by as many as 1.5 million illegal aliens each year. Anybody have an idea where I can just file my GA income tax? Ill file federal later. Yeah I know, thanks for the help though. How can I file for my income taxes when I worked in two states, one pays no state income tax. Help? My husband worked in Florida until the end of October. Florida pays no state income tax. He started working in Georgia, which pays a state income tax and his retirement pay from the military was paid to him mostly with him being a resident of Florida, with two months only residing in Georgia.. Turbo Tax isn't recognizing that he lived in Florida for the first 10 months and is reducing the amount due to us because it thinks we didn't pay state tax for those 10 months, which we didn't have to since we lived in Florida.. Is there anything we can do to show that those taxes weren't due? (I hope I made sense) Thanks!!
When applying for state health/pregnancy benefits...? I live in Georgia. They (WIC, Medicaid, PeachCare, etc..) usually qualify you based on your household income. It has to be below a certain percentage of the Federal Poverty Level. I went to the web site that lists the 2008 Federal Poverty Guidelines and amounts, and they are based on size of the family. My question is, are my husband and I considered a family of 2 or a family of 3 because I am pregnant? Also, do you know if the income they look at is pre-tax or after taxes are taken out?
When filing my taxes, do I put both state income taxes? I lived in Georgia for 6 months and paid $556 toward state income tax. I also lived in Alabama for 6 months and paid $533 toward state income tax. When it asks for Expenses; State Taxes; Do I put $1089 (556+533) or do I have to pick a state?
Does the state of Georgia have a renters rebate program when filing income taxes? I'm originally from Vermont. I know landlords are required to provide a renters certificate to anyone who rents for more than 6 months of the year? Does Georgia have a similiar program?
Having 2 W-2s: Unnecessarily paid State Income Tax even when I was not there !!? Hi, I moved from Georgia to Washington state in the month of Jan 2006. I didn't realize that Washington State does not have a state income tax. I had been paying state income tax until Aug 2006 after which I changed my state to be Washington State. I almost paid around $2,300 on Georgia State Income tax. I would like to reclaim that money now as I didn't live in Georgia from Jan 2006 - Aug 2006 and unnecessarily paid the tax to state of Georgia. Can you please tell me how can I solve this issue ? Thank You,
Which address do you send your state tax return to if it adds up to zero - payments center or refunds center? State of Georgia income taxes. There are two addresses - one for payments and one for refunds. The return adds up to zero. Which should be used? Neither payment nor a refund is due, but the return needs to be sent in. Which address - the payment address or the refund address?

WE MAILED OUR GA. STATE INCOME TAX ON THE LAST OF FEBUARY? WE MAILED OUR GEORGIA INCOME TAX THE LAST DAY OF FEBUAUARY AND WE HAVE NOT GOT IT BACK YET WHEN WE GET OUR GA.STATE INCOME REFUND.
Do I have to file for taxes? I'm nineteen years old, living in the state of Georgia. I have made less than $4,000 combined for all of the year 2008. I've never filed taxes and have never been told otherwise. Am I justified in not filing because of my insignificant income or am I heading for a nasty audit surprise???
What state should I file our state taxes in? My husband and I live on the state line of AL/GA, but in AL. I work in AL and paid in state income tax. He, however, works in GA and paid in state income tax to GA, not Alabama. My question, do we both file in Alabama since that is where we live despite his earnings all coming from Georgia? Or, do we each file seperatly, me for Alabama and him for Georgia. I always have done our own taxes, but state tax is a first for us since we moved from TX, where there is no state tax!
Can I move my kids out of state if the father broke his visitation rights? I have two children by a man I wasn't married to, we have been in and out of court for seven years now. In 2001 we went to court and the judge awarded us joint custody of our two kids, their father was to pay child support. Me, the mother, am the custodial parent. In five years I have not received a dime from their father for child support and he hasn't called or seen the children in four years, even before Hurricane Katrina. Now In 2008 their father started receiving Social Security Disability Payments and my children are receiving monthly payments too. Now he wants to claim the kids on his income tax, but the kids have been living with me for six years without his present or monetary help. For the last six years, he has not file taxes. He has always been self employed, but never file taxes in the last six years, there was no trace of employment, (he was getting paid under the table), Now he wants to file taxes and claim the kids, because he knows that the IRS will not take his refund, since he is paid up on his child support. My first question is, Can he claim the kids on his taxes now since he is paid up on his child support and my second question is, Can I move to another state(GA) where I lived there for two years after Hurricane Katrina? I came back to New Orleans to sell my house and to help rebuild my father's house. Now I decided I want to move back to Georgia where my son's asthma is controllable, the schools are better and the housing is reasonable. I know he will prevent me from moving away, but not to spend time with the kids or to be close to them, but to get back at me for leaving him and forcing him to pay child support. He lives 90 miles from the kids. Does anyone have any advice for me? I will be talking to a attoney this week about this. Thanks. My kids dad had visitation rights, but he never use it. We were never married. He has visitation but he never execised those visitation rights. He have not seen the kids in five years.
Is there serious discussion underway in yr state re: significantly reducing or eliminating state income taxes? I understand this to be the case in both Georgia and North Carolina as these two states attempt to support the continued rapid growth of their economies. Is there any discussion that you're aware of by responsible parties in your state? In my state, NH, there has been a longstanding push to institute an income tax. With Democrats now in charge of both houses of the legislature as well as the governorship, I expect that this effort will continue with renewed vigor. One reason I and many others like me came to this state was because it's in dead-last place in terms of total taxation - personal, corporate, estate, etc. This has resulted in a relatively small state government focused on basic requirements (health, welfare, safety, roads, air & water) instead of the one I had in California that spent most of its time looking for ways to raise more money to spend. The purpose of my question is to identify states that are moving in the right direction in case I decide to relocate. I know some of you disagree with my position vis-a-vis state income taxes. Feel free to express your disagreement. All that I ask is that you keep it civil - otherwise, as per the usual, you will be reported.
How do I pay taxes on donations through a website that are considered income if I live in the state of Georgia I want to collect donations through a website to help pay for my insanely high student loan payments. A lawyer on one of those ask a question sites told me it was considered income. How do I pay taxes on it properly? If I treat it like income and pay taxes on it, its it just the "state" and "federal" tax, or do you have to pay into medicare and fica and all that jazz? So the government and the state of georgia can't do anything if it is considered a gift (under 12thousand dollars from one person for the fed.)?
How Do I File Multiple Out of State Taxes? I claim residency in South Carolina. This past year I have worked in both Georgia and Washington State. Washington State has no income tax. How should I file my state taxes? Any info will help. Thanks. So do I have to claim the Washington State income on either the SC or GA tax forms?
Do I have to file a state income tax return? I filed a federal return only because I had some income from interest on bank accounts. My fed return is $0. My total income was like $700 in '07. So do I have to file a state (Georgia) return just because I did a federal return? Or should I not worry about it because my income was so small?
Rental Property in Non-Resident State - State Tax Question? In 2005 I lived, worked, and owned a home in Georgia. Then moved to Michigan where I now live, work and own a home (i.e. primary residence in Michigan). Was not able to sell the Georgia home, so now renting that property at a net loss. Two questions: 1) For 2006 tax year (lived, worked, and owned home in Michigan the entire year) - do I need to file a Georgia State Income Tax form (in addition to the Michigan State income tax form)? I am not a real estate professional, so the rental property is passive income (loss). 2) Do I claim the net income (loss) of Georgia property on my Michigan State Income Tax?
I live in the north and want to move to the South? Where should I move to or avoid? Thanks!? I'm considering Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Kentucky (especially Kentucky!!!) don't do much for me. I'm considering some important factors, which include natural beauty, attractions, friendliness, cleanliness of the area, climate, cost of living, and job market. The state's I'm considering all rank high in these areas (heck, TN and TX don't even have a state income tax!) Wait, I forgot, I'm also looking into Louisiana. I like Louisiana. Another thing, I REALLY, REALLY don't like Florida or Kentucky. The people, in my experience, have been really rude in those places.
How can someone stop an ex move out of state with children when it is stated in court papers that neither..... parent is to move out of state. The parent that has sole custody told the parent with visitation today that when they get income tax back they will be moving several states away. Is there any action that can be taken now to nsure that the parent does not take off with the children? Any help would be appreciated. Both parents live in the state of Ohio the custodial parent is planning on moving to Georgia. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
My employer held out Ga state taxes but I live in Tn? If my corp. is in NV and I want to pay an employee who lives in GA, do we both pay taxes in both states? I have heard that my out-of-Nevada employee would have to pay state income tax to both Nevada and Georgia if they earned a regular paycheck. Is that true? Is there a way to just pay the Georgia tax without filing a lot of paperwork?

Georgia state Tax: F1 student capable of getting Low-Income credit ? I am currently an international student in Georgia with F1 visa. I have been classified as Resident-Alien instead of Non-resident alien, because I have lived here more than five years. I was told to file the tax forms in the same manner as other Georgia residents. I used the Turbo Tax for filling the forms, and that program told me that I was eligible to get the Low-Income credit (about 50 dollars) since I have a low-income and I am not dependent on anyone. The problem is that I didn't earn any money for the year of 2007. However, I believe that no-income meets the low-income criteria. I would like to know if I am really eligible to get it, and if yes, then if there will be any problems in obtaining greencard in the future. Thank you
Your opinion Congressional study shows illegal immigrants sap tax dollars ? A study by the U.S. Congressional Budget Office released Tuesday backs up the view that undocumented immigrants sap more tax dollars than they provide, especially in education, health care and law enforcement. The study pulled together reports from the past five years, using data from sources including the Pew Hispanic Center, the Rand Corp., the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and various universities. The Congressional study also incorporated facts from states, including Arizona, but its authors acknowledged there was no aggregate estimate that could be applied to the entire country. The report says that in 1990, 90 percent of undocumented immigrants primarily were in six states: California, Florida, Illinois, New Jersey, New York and Texas. By 2004, undocumented immigrants had increased tenfold in other states, most notably Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee, according to statistics from the Pew Hispanic Center. The report estimates there are 12 million undocumented immigrants nationwide. Of those, 60 percent are uninsured and 50 percent of the children are uninsured. Again using 2004 statistics from the Pew Hispanic Center the average income of undocumented immigrants was $27,400 while Americans earned $47,800. The difference puts undocumented immigrants in a lower tax bracket, thus reducing the amount of federal and state income taxes generated. The study also showed that while undocumented workers represented just 5 percent of state and federal service costs, their tax revenue did not offset the amount spent by government. The authors of the study stated that, "the general consensus is that unauthorized immigrants impose a net cost on state and local budgets. However, no agreement exists as to the size of, or even the best way of measuring, that cost at a national level." In education, which the study notes is the largest single expenditure http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/stories/2007/12/17/daily19.html
How should my husband and I file our taxes this year? We had a crazy year with income situations and I'm not really sure how to handle it. We tried going in to have our taxes prepared but it was a fiasco because I don't think they knew what they were doing. Here's the situation... My husband is in the Navy and we are stationed in Guam. We own a home in Georgia, which we pay income taxes on by filing with Ga, but my husband is a Calif. resident, which we file his state taxes with them. I worked for 5 months for Macys here in Guam. Guam does not pay Federal taxes only Guam tax. So I think my question is can we file married filing seperately eventhough we've filed jointly every other year. The tax preparer here is telling us that all our income is subject to being taxed by 1. the federal government, 2. Government of Guam, 3. California, and 4. Georgia. I don't understand why we should have to file all our income in all four places. We didn't work or live in Ga or Ca and because my husband is a Ca. resident he shouldn't have to pay taxes in Guam if he's filing in Ca. Am I totally wrong or is Gov. Guam trying to doink us like they do everyone else that lives here? Please someone offer me some advice. Thank goodness I have until June 15 to file.
Advice on filing state tax return during an Internship? I am a full time student on F1 Visa (Non-resident alien), living in Atlanta-GA. I did a summer internship (about 3 months) in year 07 in California. The W-2 form sent by Employer shows CA state income tax deducted along with CA VDI tax. Do I need to file state tax return for CA? Does the state of Georgia have the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion? I know that, provided certain qualifications, individual taxpayers can exclude income earned in a foreign country from the federal tax return. I would like to know if there is a similar exclusion for the state of Georgia. I have looked, but can not find any resources on the internet. Links to reference materials would be much appreciated.

Income Tax Question -- How do I handle joint 2005 income now that I am divorced? Specifically, how do I handle a tax form for a refund that my ex and I received from our state of Georgia 2005 return. I know that it must be counted as income. The problem is that we filed jointly last year and now we must file as singles. The tax form shows both of our names but only his SSS number. I am willing to count the income as mine but I am concerned that he may be held accountable at some point because it is tied to his SSS number. Any help will be greatly appreciated! As I mentioned above, the state tax refund is from Georgia. Another note of clarification: I was divorced in 2006. 2005 is the LAST year that we will file as married. The income (a refund from GA taxes) was from 2005. Thanks to everyone so far for their answers!
Question about these taxes? I worked in Florida and lived in Georgia.. well I paid federal taxes however on my pay stubs it doesn't say I am paying Georgia state taxes.. my total taxes for the year are $770 dollars for federal.. now how much will I have to pay in state tax to Georgia? Georgia G-4 Withholding Tax Input Help? I am married and have 2 kids. My spouse is not working. I am trying to fill the Georgia's State Income Tax Withholding form G-4 and need following help. Georgia notice of proposed assessment - how to respond? I have just received a notice of proposed assessment from the State Of Georgia. It basically says that I have been audited and found to owe $331.00 from the year 2005. It also outlines ways I can protest. It also says that additional information is on the reverse side of the bill. That section is blank. There is no explanation as to WHY my 2005 taxes were wrong. I called the GA Dept of Revenue, and they said that they couldn't pull up my taxes because I filed electronically. Still, no explanation as to WHY I owe them $331.00. I can protest in writing, but how can I argue with their numbers if I don't have them? -->Adam P.S. If it matters, I live in Indiana and only have a little bit of LLC income from Georgia.

please help me on this tax question. grr. ok i am married and my wife and i live in separate states...? i can understand when filling out tax forms. FEDERALLY combining the income and paying FED taxes on money. but when it comes to filling out STATE taxes. it asks yo to move the combined income from the FED form over. this does not make sense to me because my wife lives in NYC and ALL of her income is from that state. i live in Georgia and only make money in Georgia. but it seems on the state forms i am being expected to pay NYC taxes and Vice Versa?? if we use the combined income instead of ONLY the money made in that state then you are paying taxes in a state you dont even reside.. does this make sense or am i reading this wrong?? .. i mean i dont have NYC taxes taken out of my check but moving the FED money over to state tax forms makes you taxable for a state you dont live in.. can someone please explain this?? her Permanent residence is in NY and mine is in Georgia.

I am a resident of Georgia and I also need to know if there are any state tax forms that i need to file stating zero income. I have no dependent, and no one can claim me as dependent for i am 22 years old. How will this effect my filing for next year? Are gifts taxable to the recipient? Is a gift of $40,000 worth of small company stock taxable? My daughter, a 15 year old, received a gift of stock several years ago. I believe she received $10,000 worth of stock each year for four years. It may have been 1996 thru 1999. Now the small company is proposing to buy out her shares, so she will receive $44,000 via check. Does she have to pay income tax on this next year by April 15? How much tax? Why? My father, who gave her the shares, started the company and grew it to its current size. So I guess his "cost basis" is zero? We live in the state of Georgia, in the USA. She didn't pay any taxes when she received it, but my accountant says she will owe taxes next year and I don't see why.

Currently about 183,000 illegal aliens per year depart without the intervention of immigration officials, according to DHS statistics. IT says if u read most of californias population increase is do to illegals. who suck the **** of of tax payers and watever. for the poor californians makeing it so exspensive./ so better to live there poor. know so many people moving from exspensive citys of cali florida and texas for cheaper and more resonable life style. know okay los angelas hey i think of tight graffiti from awr, msk, nasa crew, tko, know i am know toy and dont care for west coast nut awr, and msk , took **** to the exstreme. okay. and i think of tight rappers such as dr dre. snoop dogg, tupac and nwa. know east coast rap better orgial and there first. I still do not have a W2 from a job I held last year. What do I do? I've left several messages for the business owner (this is an animal hospital in north Georgia) and even called the payroll accountant, whose reply was that I need to contact the business. When I stated that I'd left several messages with no answer she suggested that I wait a couple more days. (Quite a rude and crass woman, honestly.) What do I do now? I cannot find my last pay stub and have no idea how much I made or how much was paid as income tax. I have called the IRS and listened to a recording tell me what I need in order to file a complaint. The problem is, I do not have an approximate wage number or amount paid in federal taxes. What next?
How samrt is the Left? Newsletter March 25, 2007 Vol 2 Issue 6 The Other White Meat When President Bush asked for an additional 22,000 troops to compliment the forces in Iraq so we can hopefully end the conflict and put this war to bed, Congress obliged. However, now that the President is asking for $92 billion in emergency spending because the previous funds will run out next month, Congress in its irresponsible wisdom has delivered a car without a gas tank. In real terms, you can't drive a car without gas and you can't fight a war without the tools needed to get the job done, especially if you are pulling a trailer full of pork. To be perfectly blunt, most of the Democrats are against the war. It does not take a brain surgeon to realize that fact. So why waste the taxpayer?s time and money to push through a useless bill that everyone knows will be vetoed anyway. Okay all of you folks who are sitting on the left side of the aisle we heard you, we got your message. We are not as stupid as you believe we are. There are people out there that want to cut off our heads. So stop playing games and get the job done right. Get back to work and do the job you were elected to do; that is to uphold the constitution and protect the people of the United States. Tacking on all sorts of useless amendments is totally counterproductive. You were elected to represent the people not try to bribe your colleagues with all sorts of goodies so they will vote in your favor. Let us examine what bribes they have tried to use. The President asked for an additional $92 billion in emergency spending. He wanted $72 billion to fund the war and $20 billion in additional Hurricane Katrina relief. Knowing that placing a timetable on the bill by itself wouldn't allow it to fly so they tacked on all kinds of pork. Some of these amendments are so ridiculous that they would insult the intelligence of a two-year-old child. They added over $24 billion that has me scratching my head. Here are just a few amendments they added on: $4 billion in additional nationwide agricultural disaster assistance. The USDA did not request the funds. Even though farm income in 2005 was in excess of $72 billion, a record high, they added an additional $4 billion, which would not be used in areas that were affected by Hurricane Katrina. Sounds like another rainy day fund, only rain is not in the forecast. $700 million to reroute a railroad line so it can make room for a private development of additional casinos along the Gulf Coast. That line is now fully functional after it was repaired at a cost of $300 million after being damaged by Hurricane Katrina. CSX is not excited about moving their tracks they rebuilt it as fast as possible to meet their customers needs because it was a critical artery. There is nothing wrong with the existing line. Don't bet on this one. $594 million in additional highway funding. This is in addition to the $286 billion that was passed last year. Only this money has nothing to do with Katrina or Iraq. It would be used for the emergency relief highway backlog across the country. The only project specifically mentioned in the committee's report is the Kuhio Highway in Hawaii, which is, located over 4,000 miles away from the Gulf Coast. Sounds like another bridge to nowhere. $21 million is the amount President Bush originally wanted to restore fishery resources in the Gulf region as assistance to the seafood industry that was hard hit by Katrina. The House eliminated this portion of the bill. However, the Senate reinstated it and raised the stakes to over $1.1 billion. This is well beyond the already millions that were spent to repair and replace damaged boats and docks. Smells a little fishy to me. You are going to love this one! $3.8 billion to prepare for a potential bird flu epidemic like the last one. You know the last one that is the one where we have 500-million vaccines ready to go. The current vaccine is not scheduled to expire for at least two- years. So now, they want us to throw it all away and start over. Sounds like a bird brained idea to me. $74 million for the peanut farmers to store their crops. There is a peanut quota in the U.S. This holds down the supply and increases the price. So now, they want to hand the peanut farmers our hard- earned tax dollars to buy them storage units. I wonder if they will be located in Plains, Georgia. This sounds like a nutty idea. $400 million to help the timber industry in Oregon. This industry was originally hurt when Congress shut down harvesting the Northern timberlands to protect the Spotted Owl from being displaced. However, they have no problem displacing you and me through eminent domain if they needed our houses for a municipal parking lot. By the way, the Northern Spotted Owl originated in Mexico, they are probably here illegally. $400 million for the low-income energy assistance program. The Democrats have been blocking our efforts to drill our own oil resources. They also don't want us to increase nuclear power. So what are they going to do with the $400 million? Send me low energy light bulbs. Here is the real problem. According to the Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates the funding of the war runs out on April 15, 2007. If Congress does not act immediately, on April 15 there will be no funds available to protect our sons, daughters, brothers, sisters and friends who are fighting to keep America safe. Congress will be on Spring Break when that happens. They will be romping on the sands of Palm Beach and Santa Monica while our troops are romping on the sands of Baghdad. They will be sipping champagne and Rum Punch while our troops will be wondering where their next meal is coming from because the funds ran out. This is not the first time pork was added to an emergency spending bill. During the last go around, they tacked on a $1 million price tag for a telescope to be used to discover intelligent life in outer space. Let's start by looking for intelligent life in Washington, DC. And, that is my opinion. Michael Solomon If you want to help restore sanity to America, join the Flag Day campaign. Michael Solomon Author of 'Where Did My America Go?" Millie C wow you cought that ! YAAA How many people from the left will see the irony of samrt?
Trancredo on immigration..........? How many of you support this loco? Let's see how many issues facing our country Tancredo lays at the feet of immigrants and claims would be solved if only the country would follow his simple [minded] prescription: vaccine-resistant diseases [somehow these diseases know the immigration status of every person and jump aboard people without proper documents people--oops, accidentally landed on a Georgia lawyer]; the environment; education, and worst case of misleading scaremongering---the broken health care system. There are so many myths about the immigrants' impact on the US health care system--all demonstrably false. A close examination of immigrants’ actual experience with the U.S. health care system sheds light on the many obstacles immigrants encounter when they seek health insurance and health care. Low-income documented immigrants must wait five years before being eligible for public health insurance. And less than half of the states provide coverage to select documented immigrant populations, such as children and pregnant women. Furthermore, cumbersome administrative regulations regarding proof of citizenship status dissuade potentially eligible documented immigrants from applying to Medicaid and SCHIP. And although undocumented immigrants contribute to the economy through their labor and taxes, they are barred from federally-matched Medicaid services. But that is not all. Documented and undocumented immigrants are almost always unable to access employer-based or private health insurance. The reason: the average health insurance premium for a family of four was roughly $11,500, nearly half of the average annual income of an immigrant worker. Because of these limitations and restrictions, documented and undocumented immigrants are more likely to go without needed medical services and preventive health care, jeopardize health and welfare, and create some cost-shifting.. The increase of documented and undocumented immigrants into the U.S. is not the cause of the failing health care system. The health care system is broken in large part because 45 million individuals lack health insurance and health care premiums have nearly doubled over the past six years. [Any effort to reform the American health care system should work to reduce barriers to health insurance coverage for immigrants. And any effort at immigration reform should also be informed by these facts.] Why does Tom Tancredo keep pumping out hate-filled propaganda? How else would he get newspaper headlines? a podium at a debate? It's all for the glory of himself. John, So you're one of those people who blame EVERYTHING on illegal immigration? I would say that you need to look beyond what you see on television.
