Were can I find Coles County Illinois real estate tax prices? I need to find the price of real estate taxes on a certain house in charleston Illinois 61920.
Cook Country Illinois Real Estate Tax? I've read all the standard material, and I'm still confused. I have a two part question. I bought and sold residences in Cook County, which has the odd practice of paying RE taxes a year in arrears. On home I sold in 2007, I think it's clear that for 2007 I can deduct the 2006 tax I paid to the county, as well as the estimated balance for 2006 and my estimated prorated share of 2007 taxes. This gives me a deduction of about 150% of what I normally would take. Does that sound correct? I haven't had to pay any taxes on my new home yet, since the seller paid the second 2006 installment prior to closing. When I do pay 2007 taxes in 2008, how much can I deduct? a. Everything I pay the county, b. A prorata share of what I pay the county, based on days I owned the home. c. What I pay the county less what the seller advanced to me. d. Some other amount. I think the answer is b, but if someone could confirm that, it would be great.
Does Illinois law allow discounted property taxes on rental properties? Hello experts, I am considering moving out of my house and renting it out so I can buy another place. A friend told me he had heard there is legislation in my state (Illinois) that allows a real estate owner to decrease their property taxes by 30% on a rental property if they have the renter officially pay a portion of the taxes themselves. Real Estate Costs in Missouri versus Illinois? Live in St.Louis Metro Area and am struggling to find a good site that will allow me to better understand the costs of real estate in the state of Missouri versus Illinois. For instance, I know Illinois doesn't have personal property taxes, whereas Missouri does. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Illinois law concerning the estate of the recently deceased? My father recently passed away leaving behind several vehicles that he co-owned with my brother. The state of course will want to liquidate all necessary assets to cover my dad's medical bills which legally they have the right to do and would give them claim on my dad's share of the sale price. We are wondering if it would be legal to sell the vehicles to a friend for $1.00 thereby giving the state rights only to $.50 and then we could either buy them back for the same price or sell them through the friend so the state can't take all that money. Illinois is already taking a lot of money in estate taxes and all the other items we will need to sell. We don't feel that they should force us to sell these perfectly good, and needed, vehicles.
Does anyone have any experience with tax laws regarding real estate in the state of Illinois? I have moved between 2 locations within 2 years of purchasing a home at the first location. I am aware that in order to avoid capital gains on the profit of the first home, my workplace has to be >50 miles from the previous workplace in order to qualify for the "safe harbor" modification to the capital gains law. I have done so and have moved into our new home (work 52 miles from original work and home is 50 miles from original home). I am currently in the position where I can improve my employment situation. However, it would require me to take another job at a location 30 miles further, for a total of 82 miles from the initial job. I am in the 21st month of the 24 necessary to avoid capital gains, but I don't want to pass up this opportunity. Any insight anyone can provide (e.g. website) would be greatly apprecaited. Thank you in advance! I am not planning on moving my residence. Just my place of employment.

You have about $450 in pre-tax expenses taken out of your paycheck every month, not including government taxes. Your first year you will pay $10,344.05 in interest expense, and $1,640.51 in principal. What are the tax benefits / implications of purchasing this property? Thanks.

How do you contest a will and obtain a lawyer? My Aunt recently died from a long-time illness. The past few years prior to her death she had severe dementia. Her decedents were her only daughter, 4 granddaughters and my mother (her only niece). Her original will was created in 1991 stating that her estate would go to her daughter. Her daughter died in 2001. At that time my Aunt spoke to my mother before she became ill and while in sound mind( I was present during that conversation) stating that since her daughter was now gone she wanted to name my mother as sole beneficiary to her estate. She said she did not want any of her estate to go to her granddaughters because they were all well off and my mother was not. She said she was going to create a codicil to her will. Her estate is now in Probate. The will being used is the original will from 1991 and does not include that updated codicil and/or updated will. The granddaughters added themselves into the probate as next of kin. The named Executor/Fiduciary is believed to have put undue influence over my Aunt. He named her last domicile as his own residency where she claimed her taxes which is not true. Also, in 2003 while my Aunt was not in sound mind he was put into Power of Attorney. During that time our family tried to get in touch with my Aunt and he stated he did not know where she was or anything about her since the one granddaughter took over and took everything out of his hands. But, that was a lie since was Power of Attorney and handling all of her accounts. My Aunt was a long-time resident of Cincinnati, Ohio but stayed in a nursing home until her death in Illinois. Her estate is being handled in Hamilton County-Cincinnati, Ohio. I have a few questions to any attorney or those who has knowledge of the law and Probate. How would she contest the will? Do you think she would win if she did contest the will? My mother is disabled with health problems and is on a low, fixed income. How could she obtain a lawyer?
What was the name of that last Democratic congressman that reformed? the tax code, later went to prison? He was convicted of stealing postage stamps, but I can't remember His name. You know the one, he eliminated many tax deductions for the common guy and he turned some into credits and he had a big estate just south of the northern Illinois border.
2008 Tax Overpayment? Ok so heres the situation... Several weeks ago I filed my taxes using turbo tax. everything seemed in order my adjusted gross income on return was a little over 10k, and turbo tax said i was due a federal refund of $607(minus the fees of using turbo tax). Since then I have already received my refund. But yesterday I received a letter from the IRS saying they changed my estimated tax total and that i am due a refund. It says Due to These Changes, I am due a refund of $576. Even tho i have already received a tax refund? On the tax statement they sent me it says Overpayment of Taxes: $576 Amount of Refund- If you Owe No Other Taxes: $576. Does this mean I overpaid THEM? If so why would they send me a 2210 form along with it? 2210 form is: Underpayment of Tax By Individuals, Estates, and Trusts. This makes no sense to me. Can Anybody help me make some sense of this? Additional info: I live in Illinois. I filed a 1040A form The notice they sent me is called a CP24. How do I go About handling this?
