IRS Jobs..? What are some of them? I seen an ad in the newspaper hiring for IRS jobs but I am interested to know what is involved. Thanks.
What if my ncp refuses to file taxes on jobs to prevent IRS interception and payment of owed money to me? My sons father owes close to $8,000.00 in back support and even though he has 1099"s from jobs worked off and on he refuses to file . I haven't recieved any payment in 90 days now atleast and I can't seem to get help with both states{ where he lives and my current state of residency } or with Supportkids...He is flagged for IRS interception but why isn't anything being done to make him file return? Also they can't get in contact with him and have no current address acording to his grandmother at last known....he was on some sort of probation for other criminal activity and probation should have accurate address right? Why can't CSE call law enforcement OR state DOC? What do I do? Is there anyone who can/will help? My sons father lives in Colorado if this helps any. Thank You.
Way to verify if an IRS tax audit was performed, and the outcome of that audit? If a person did not submit their taxes for multiple years and and they were reported - is there a way to verify that the audit was done? Also, if the person moved since the initiation of the reporting to the IRS, does any action need to take place? The person has maintained a job in the public workforce over the years, including the present time. Thank you!
Starting pay for IRS Job? I applied for a seasonal Contract Representative job with the IRS, and was found tentatively eligible for both the GS-5 and GS-6 levels/pay scales. If I am hired, which pay scale would I start out at? Thanks for the responses. I do know what the pay range is for GS-5 and GS-6 for my area, but what I'd like to know is if a person is qualified for both a GS-5 and a GS-6, which one would they start at?
What is the minimum income to report it to the IRS? Sorry, the question is pretty vague. I primarily work one job, in 2006 I took on a new job just to make a few extra bucks, I worked there for two hours then quit. After Social Security and Medicare were deducted, I made a total of 13.85 on the one paycheck I earned from them. No Federal or State taxes were deducted from my check. The question is, do I need to report this income to the IRS? I need to file a tax return NOW and I'm tired of waiting for this W-2 to come in the mail. I have to file quickly because I am starting school and need to file a FAFSA.

How does the IRS determine how much to garnish out of a social security check? We recently found out that the IRS is garnishing my dad's social security check as well as his part-time paycheck due to previous unpaid taxes. Is this something they determine by a percentage? He has had emergency heart surgery, several complications, and it doesn't look like he'll be getting back to that part-time job. So would the IRS take less out of his social security check now? He won't have enough to live on if they don't decrease what they're taking out. Thanks for any help out there.
How does IRS determine if you can deduct expenses related to Modeling/Acting/performing careers? My little brother is going to start his modeling career. Eventually he is going to take acting classes. Of course, there are a lot of expenses related to this. From hair care up to clothing. He doesn't have an agent or agency representing him. He just got started, but he is already doing appearances in events for low or no money. Most models start like that. But we have still to pay for all of this "job related expenses". What does IRS might need to "approve" these expenses as deductibles? Thank You.
Hiring process for IRS Collection Rep Job? Does anyone know the hiring process for IRS jobs? I received a email telling me that I was highly qualified for the job, but this is not an official job offer, as those who scored higer would be selected first and after those applicants are selected if any vacancies are available the highly qualified applicants would be notified by email. I would like to know what are the hiring ratings?
What is the average starting salary for working at the IRS? I know there are several different positions and jobs within the IRS, and i'm generalizing here, but any starting salary would be helpful. I'm just trying to get a general idea. Also, if you have a starting salary, what position is it? Thanks.
Does the IRS do pre-employment drug testing for all applicants or just for certain positions? I have applied for a job with the IRS as a secretary, and have been told that I will need to give fingerprints and have a background check done. The job listing does not say anything about drug testing like some other listings do, and I have found some info on the web saying that IRS only does pre-employment testing for certain jobs, not for all jobs. Can anyone tell me what I should expect if I get offered the secretary job?
What school should I go to if I want to have a job position in IRS? My major is accounting, and I am transferring to a four year university this fall. However, I do not know what school should I go to...... I want to become a CPA, and have a job position in IRS; therefore I really need to choose a university that has a better chance to get into IRS once I graduated. My options are: University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) University of California, Riverside (UCR) California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) Cal Poly Pomona Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo San Diego State University Thanks in advance...
Am I suppose to report to the IRS BEFORE starting my home job? I am about to start a job working at home for 2009 and how much I make depends on how much work I do. I understand about filing taxes at the end of the year. But how do I go about letting the IRS know what my intentions are at the beginning of the year? I also would like to know how to go about paying taxes throughout the year from each paycheck? Are there forms I can order to send the IRS with my payments so that they have record that I've been paying? How does this work? United States
Any attorneys out there? Tax lien situation whereby IRS has garnished wages to the point of poverty; remedies? This info is for a freind whom has consulted w/ an atty. and stated that the only option is a settlement. This party does not have the money for a settlement nor enough assets to sell off to erase the tax liability. All wages garnished and personal asset(s) i.e. car has lien attached. Bankruptcy won't work due to this is non-dischargeable debt. This person understands the need to pay and has a good job-salary, but the IRS has left her/him with $333 to live on ea. month. Bascially poverty-stricken. No doubt the gov't has legal basis to due this, but, but, I believe it's unfair/ unjust to propel a person into dire straits with collection efforts. If the garnishment was not at the present level e.g. leaving this person with say $1000 to live on monthly, it would be affordable. I don't think the IRS... tax system, was setup to render a preson homeless or otherwise. Thank you for any assistance.
The IRS sent a wage levy to my job, is it too late to make payment arrangements? I can't afford to pay the levy as I will lose my car and apartment because I won't be able to pay rent or car payment. Is there a way to make arrangements to pay $100 a pay period or is it too late now that the levy has been issued. If so, what do I do? The first deduction is scheduled to come out my paycheck on May 25th.
IRS Tax Examiner Job Detail, Please Describe? I will start very soon at the seasonal tax examiner position with the IRS. I am starting to get the feeling that the tax examiner position is totally clerical in nature and has little to nothing to do with taxation. I had taken five tax courses in college and was hoping to really apply my knowledge as an examiner. I am know feeling duped by the job title. What is your experience or knowledge about this job at the IRS?
IRS Job Processing Session? I applied for a contact representative job with the IRS, and have a fingerprinting/processing session coming up. It's supposed to last 3 hours. Does anyone know what they do at the session, other than just fingerprinting? Please only answers from any former/current IRS employees who know what the processing sessions entail.

I put dependend - 1 on my W-2 forms for the past 2 or 3 jobs I did last year , Will I have to pay back IRS? I was in some debt , So for the jobs I did one for 6 months then one for 2 months and the 2 jobs I am doing right now , I put 1 for question 1 and question 2 ( A and B ) I was talking to a colleague of mine yesterday and he told me the story of how he lost money back to the tax people ?? I amkinda scared.. I was under the impression that I will get money back cuz of all the " ILLEGAL " AND "Unlawful " MONEY THEY ARE taking out of my paycheck !! Now it seems I have to pay these Good -deeders money back ?? by the way , I put down 1 ( but in reality i dn't have a dependent , i am 25 ,) I had to do it or else i would have lost my car . i am not being apologetic , but merely explaining the situation . What should I do ? I got the 3 - W-2 forms on my desk ( I received them recently ) How do I figure out how much money i'll have to pay them back or i'll get back ?

IRS or Big 4? If you are newly licensed CPA (or just now taking the exam), Is it better to work at Big 4, or for IRS? My GPA in Masters program qualifies me for the Federal Career Intern program listed on the IRS website (http://jobs.irs.gov/hot.html) - which says I could be making more than $70K within 3 years and never worry about working the long hours that those at CPA firms do. I've got EXCELLENT analytical skills - so would love something in Tax. Would IRS be better than a job at Big 4 at this point? my link didn't post right - http://jobs.irs.gov/hot.html there - that's what I'm looking at.
Should I accept a temporary job offer with the IRS in Utah? I have no place to stay in Utah, so I would have to arrange for housing. All I need is a room, really. A cheap motel with weekly rates would work, if I can find such a place in Ogden, Utah. The job is working in the mail room for $12.00 an hour. The job will last a maximum of thirty days, after which I will be unemployed again. I will be able to draw unemployment after the job ends, I think. I have no other job offers at this time. I am not broke, but my savings are diminishing. The IRS job of course could be somewhat hazardous. Think about it. Opening mail at the IRS. Disgruntled, crazy taxpayers. Who knows what they might send. I am currently staying with relatives in Texas and have no real housing expense here, so I would not be paying rent in two places. It's a 1500 mile drive to Ogden, Utah and I need to be there by 4:00 pm on Monday. What it comes down to is this: Should I drive 1500 miles for about 1500 dollars, plus maybe 3 grand in unemployment?
When do I need to ask the IRS for an audit? I don't work and my husband has been at his job for 15 years and is just now making $37000.00 a year. We don't own any property and we had almost $10,000.00 worth of deductibles and we never got a dime of it back on our taxes. Should I ask the IRS for an audit?
Failing to report all income to the IRS? If you have an under-the-table job besides your full-time job where you pay taxes and receive a W-2 Form and file with the IRS. Do you have to report all of your under-the-table $ or just over a certain amount? For instance say your an auto mechanic and you fix a friends car for $500 do you have to report it?
How do we get 501(c)(3) status with the IRS? We would like to register our national (registered) not-for-profit in the USA and get 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. Is there anyone who is able to advise on next steps or even act as consultant to get the job done? It seems to be a critical step for our South African company, in order to receive donations with tax benefits for USA citizens. We are also interested in associated fees.
Am I in trouble with the IRS since I planned on claiming myself in 2006 and now my mom wants to? I just graduated college last May and have been working a full time job ever since. I have been living at home, however I have been paying my mom rent, buying my own food, and have my own insurance benefits. In my mind, I have been completely financially independent ever since that diploma was handed to me and have been claiming "1" on my W-2. After working for 7 months, my annual gross income came out to a little over $28k (15% tax bracket) and I payed a little over $4500 in federal income taxes. If my mom ends up claiming me as a dependent, am I going to end up having to pay the IRS more money instead of expecting a refund? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I am no banker. To answer CarVolunteer's question, for the last 7 months she has NOT provided me with food, clothing, nor insurance. I still live here, however I have been paying her a monthly rent check. I have my own insurance benefits through my employer; my benefits with her expired upon graduation in May 2006.
do minors get the IRS economic stimulus check? I'm 17 years old and i have a job and file my own taxes. I got a notice in the mail from the IRS adressed to me alerting me about the Economic Stimulus Act (my brother got one too but he is 20). I made over $3000 last year and I have already recieved me tax refund. I am wondering if i am going to get a check?
Which dept do I contact at the IRS to rat out a previous employer for tax fraud? I've heard that if you want to rat out someone to the IRS for tax fraud that the government will give you a reward of a certain percentage of what they collect. However, you have to fill out a certain form. Does anybody know what form this is and how to obtain it? My last employer found out I was looking for another job and fired me because of it (that's the reason he gave me). When I filed for unemployment he contested it claiming that I had been reprimanded 4 or 5 times for my job performanace (an outright lie---He never reprimanded me, in fact, a week before he fired me he gave me a raise). Normally I wouldn't rat anyone out to the IRS, but I'm making an exception in this case. AmyV----how are they committing fraud? A 10 day trip last year to Hawaii paid for on company credit cards. Only 1/2 hour was devoted to business. A personal vehicle, titled in the owner's name, with the company making the bank payment, paying the insurance, and providing all the fuel and services. Last year, the owner built a house. All the A/C and duct work was provided by personnel of the corporation---at no charge to the owner. Sounds like fraud to me.

About the IRS job? Okay i start training as a data transcriber on the 23rd and wanted to know if anyone has gone through it before.. they say i have to pass 3 test to even get the actual job are they hard and what are they like?

IRS Job Interview? Harry went to the Internal Revenue for a job interview. The interviewer looked at his resume and asked him, "Have you worked for government before?" "Yes, I served 8 years in the army." "Good, that counts in your favour. Do you have any disabilities?" "I am 80% disabled. A mortar round blew off my testicles so they declared me disabled. It doesn't affect my ability to work." "Sorry to hear about the damage, but I have good news for you. I can hire you immediately. Our working hours are 8.00 to 4.00. Come on in about 10 tomorrow, and we'll get you started." "If working hours are from 8 to 4, why do you want me to come at 10?" "This is a government agency. We don't do anything but sit around and scratch our b*lls for the first two hours. No point you coming in for that."
I recently applied for a job with the IRS? I applied for a job with the IRS recently. They require me to take a date typing skills test. Does anyone know what this test consists of? I'm pretty good at typing but I need to know the level of difficulty for this test. does anyone have a clue? Please let me know. Thank you
Filing Quarterly Taxes to IRS? I have a full time job, but i'm about to start a propriatery investment by the side. The invesment does not file any 1099-B with either me or the IRS. However, i've consulted a good accountant and he said i should file quarterly to the IRS using Turbo tax. My question is does this by any chance affect my full time job.(I'm fully employed through W2). I intend to treat this as an separate entity from my full time job. does IRS produce a yearly statement that i can use for my end of the year tax filing. Please advise. Thanks JI
How to pay 30k in IRS taxes and 4K a month in mortgage? Oh my gosh I was laid off 6 months ago and I just found out that my unemployment has run out. I also found out that my husband hasn't paid our IRS taxes since 2005 and we owe $30k. If I get a job the IRS will probably take my entire check forever. This is a nightmare. Why does the IRS go after the poor wife with no job and no income coming in and take $245.00 out of my checking without a warning? This Xmas is going to really blow.
Congress has the power to tax according to the Consitution. So how did a 3rd party company (IRS) get the job? If the "people" have appoint Congress, and only Congress can tax, then how are the IRS (A non-governmental agency), get to do so. When did Congress Grant Authority, when did the people vote on this, and was the legislation clear. If no records of these exist, then why are we paying a non-governmental agency our taxes? They also "enforce" tax code, and to enforce anything on a federal level, there must be proper "delegation of authority" from Congress and on public record.. I live in D.C and have visited the Archives, and U.S Dept of State.......No delegation of authority was available.....Hum..........What's really going on? Are we too smart...........or have we accepted bad government as a way of life?
Tax Accident! Filed all 3 Jobs under ONE name!? I really need some advice. I worked 3 jobs for the 2006 tax season and recieved all 3 W2's from my employers. I used TaxActOnline.com to do my taxes, but before that, I totaled all my jobs boxes from 1 to 17 in the for the W2 Wage Summary. I thought it would be easier to combine all jobs as ONE income under my current employers name, so when filing, it would be easier online. When I used TaxAct to complete my Efile for my W2's, I just realized AFTER that there was an option to enter separate W2's and it would total all of them together automatically. My forms have been submitted to the IRS and accepted, and I believe my TaxRefund should be deposited in my account in the next 2 weeks. Basically I filed one tax return for all three jobs, but didn't state on my tax return that I had 3 jobs. If the IRS does check the W2's (they have a copy right?) and combine and calculate them all, I know it would balance out the same way I did when I Efiled. Should I be worried? What do i need to do? Btw, I am recieving a very big refund this year, because I let the Fed and State withold the maximum through out the year. I am positive that I do not owe Federal or State Tax. Just found out, forgot to include my 1099-R...I received it in the mail a couple days ago, so now, I have filed a 1040X (which I did using taxactonline.com) which now includes the 1099-R and auto adjust all the calculations, and it looks like I actually owe the US Treasury about $35...just wondering if this will cause anymore headaches for me in the future on top of what I have already done as stated in my previous question?
I want a job with the IRS? I am want to work for the IRS eventually I am looking towards a tax examiner or revenue officer. I want to help people with their taxes, check to make sure they are doing it right.. I am getting ready to take tax classes so I can get some experience if they hire me part time. When I have enough classes I will take my Enrolled Agent exam. I do plan on going back to school so, I can earn my BA in accounting. I am 31 now going on 32, but I feel my plan is going to take too long and it might be too late.. Am I on the right path or am I way off? Any advise you can give me will be greatly appreciated..
The Origin of IRS employees? A young hotshot gets a job with the IRS. His first assignment is to audit an old Rabbi. He thinks he'll have a little fun with the old Rabbi, so he says, "Rabbi, what do you do with the drippings from the candle?" The Rabbi says, "We send them to the candle maker, and every once in a while they send us a free candle. The kid says, "And what do you do with the crumbs from your table?" The Rabbi says, "We send them to the matzoh ball bakery, and every once in a while they send us a free box of matzoh balls." The kid says, "And what do you do with the foreskins from your circumcisions?" The Rabbi says, "We send them to the IRS, and every once in a while they send us a little prick like you."
IRS number? Is it possible to get an job with an IRS number?...
I just got a job with the IRS and...? I was wondering how I will be paid. I got a job as a data transciber and I have a Bachelor's degree, which I know automatically allows me to start at a higher level. I think the max level I could start out as is G4. Does anyone know how I can figure this out? I don't go in to do paperwork for a couple weeks! Also, does anyone know if their temporary positions would allow me to take 2 weeks off unpaid. My husband is coming back from Iraq for 2 weeks and I need that time off. Does the IRS make you sign a contract or what is the deal?
The IRS took over $9,000 of our money...can we get it back? (Tax withholding)? My husband had intentions of started his own construction company 6 years ago but decided against it after becoming incorporated as a company (we live in Indiana). He never made any money and only bought supplies to start the company. He never filed taxes on anything cause he didn't make any money (he assumed he didn't need to report it because he didn't make anything). Long story short...the IRS just took over $9,000 from us from a personal injury case (we still don't have our personal injury check in hand....so its out of our control...they have the money). Since my husband never filed taxes are we pretty much screwed or can we get our money back somehow? The business was never 'officially' closed but has never done any construction jobs nor has he made any money under his 'construction company'. Can you give me any good advice on what our next step would be? SERIOUS PEOPLE and ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE!!!
I just found out I owe $7000-10000 to the IRS. HELP!? I just found out I owe between $7,000 to $10,000 in taxes to the IRS for the 2006 tax year. I'm 24, unemployed, and already have $2,000 in credit card debt. Besides setting up an installment plan with the IRS, what else should I do? I've heard it's possible to get a personal bank loan for under $10,000, even if you don't own a home (which I don't). Is there any way I can get a private loan to pay off the IRS, once I get a job? Thanks!

If a non citizen ( green card holder) woman that has a child (her own child) and is without a husbandand and has no job and no income, files IRS tax return, does she get money back form IRS? 1500$ or so. Or is it just a crdit that she could have had if she had an income? Does it matter if she is citizen or not?
the IRS SAYS I WORKED A JOB THAT I DIDNT? its been going on now for a few years. no matter what i do it's not proof enough for them. i never even lived in the state that they are saying i worked in. they have tried to garnish my wages and everything! Please help and nobody has stolen my identity. the job is one that my brother worked. i dont understand the mix-up
can I sue the IRS? its probably not thier fault, but my company is garnishing 600 dollars a paycheck and sending to the IRS. this in addition to the 300 or so I pay to child support. so that leaves me with about 450 a check. Not good. Though I knew this was a mistake, neither side will admit that they are the ones fugging it. The IRS says they are not garnishing me, my job says it is the IRS. what should I do?
does anyone here work for the IRS? I have a job interview coming up for the IRS and wanted to know what exactly to expect. I'm sure behavioral questions, a detailed story of my resume, just wondering about any analytical questions that I might run into? (Balt-Washington Metro Area)
Are there laws protecting corporations to send U.S. jobs overseas? Are there laws protecting corporations to send U.S.A jobs overseas? Do you think that the IRS should help bring U.S.A jobs back by suspend corporate income taxes (for a period of 5 years) for those corporations willing to move their production operations back into the USA ?
Will the IRS come after me when I file next year.? okay, last year I worked 2 jobs. One at a FF place that gave me a W2 515.92- Wages 26.11- Federal Income Tax Withheld 7.47- Medicare then the other job as an independent contractor that gave me a 1099-misc 3770.00 Non-Employee compensation -------------------------... I tried so hard to file, I did so much research and I just couldn't figure it out (which made me feel real bad beacuse I'm going to school for accounting but we haven't covered tax yet.) the problem was that I was not only working with a 1099 that did int take any income tax out (I received full cash at that job), I could have handled that, but It got really complicated with the regular W2 thrown in. One form said that I owed 500 dollars... I was completely broke at the time (and Had just lost the 2nd job) so I had no way of paying that year I went from 17yrsold to 18, I'm a full time student (went from HS to college that year) and I have no dependents beacuse I still live with my parents. I remember hearing that there was a cutoff where If you made so little you didin't have to file, I looked it up and I can't remember the exact figure But I was below it (I only made like 4grand in a year after all) I just didint send anything In...at all. I haven't heard anything from the IRS and I haven't received any letters or anything, but I remember stories about people who don't file for years, and then when they do file thats when the computer system gets them.I live in NC btw, am I screwed?? But Im a student and I live with my parents, and I made so Little isint there a bracket. that and I always get my Social Secruity and Medicare tax back, why is this different. The real problem is at the time of filing and right now, I HAVE NO MONEY AT ALL NONE WHAT SO EVER I have .79c in my bank account i wasant trying to cheat them, I saw something on the IRS page that said If I made less then X amout I wouldn't have to file
Can a creditor seize your bank account and IRS refund for a car repo deficiency judgment in FL? Thank you.? I had it repossessed by Wells Fargo last week. No job then and now either. IRS returns are due soon, and I will get a refund. Not nearly enough for the balance and tow/storage fees. So will have to let them sell the car. They took the car in the middle of the night, no breach of peace. They sent me a letter notifying of the impending sale, by phone said auction, but letter said private sale. Anyway.... My refund won't be enough to satisfy the balance either, but will buy me a small, cheap thing. Then I can work and pay the deficiency judgment. Is my IRS refund and bank account safe? I expect a future wage garnishment try. Thank you.
Employer Fica Match (2 jobs)? This is a simple question, but complex to explain perhaps, but here goes nothing: I have 2 jobs. Job 1 will max out my social security contribution as my pay is >97500. Job 2 is a home business, with me as the sole employee. Question: I know that if I withhold social security from job 2, I will personally get a refund at tax time (happened this year). BUT, my home business, which has to match the contribution, does not get a refund. So, can I simply not deduct social security from my job 2 paycheck? And, correspondingly, can I avoid the company match altogether by doing this? Or, will the IRS look from a company point of view and say "you have to match the first 97500 from each employee, period"? The employee can then get a refund, but the company is out of luck.
How would I know if I owe the IRS?? I'm 21 y/o and I never filed taxes before. The reason being is because people have told me it wasn't neccessary since I'm a student. I've worked plenty of jobs from the age of 16 up unitl now. Every job I've had I always filed exempted except for probably one job. I decided I was going to file my taxes this year since I have a child thats due in Sept. and I can claim her. Right now I'm working on an internship that pays pretty good and I had a job earlier this year with a Mortgage company but they're closed down for business, which means at the end of the year I will only recieve 2 income tax returns. If I file this year, do you think I will owe the IRS any money from the previous years and if so how much?? I don't want to claim my child then have the govr'n take away my whole refund. One more thing....Am I eliglible for a refund if I filed exempt with my internship?? I didn't file exempt with the Mortgage company but I was only there for about 2 months total. Thanks everyonebody!!! Your input has been very helpful. Just to inform you all, I never made over $13,000 in one year. I've been doing a summer internship for the past 3 years and I've also never kept a job for over 6 months, so that's how I've pretty much been making my money. I did some independent contracting work for a few months (maybe 2 or 3) and never earned over $400 with both of the jobs combined. I'm not sure if my annual gross income makes a difference, but someone mention it in there answer
